Whilst my wife is away on a weekend’s hen-party with a bunch of friends I have some more quality time with our daughter Maeve. We spent a nice day yesterday in Borders a book shop in Blanchardstown followed by a drive around county Dublin to places I have not been – the weather was lovely and sunny. Anyway, of late I have noticed that Maeve has certain musical preferences – which I thought unusual (probably isn’t) in someone only 13 months old. She likes folk and classical and some pop – the latter must have a catchy beat. We were sitting on the sofa flicking through the channels when the TV got stuck on some pop channel where some young nubile woman was waiving her arms, wiggling her hips and singing away to some inane song (don’t remember don’t care). What struck me was the sight of Maeve intensley studying the TV and starting to mimic the singer on TV. It’s amazing how fast they learn.
